Welcome, and thank you for stopping by. I'm Dr Ajmal, and I care for patients at AZA Mediclinic in Bandar Laguna Merbok, Sungai Petani, the community I call home.
Before AZA, I spent about three years as a medical officer in the orthopaedic department at Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah. My time on the wards, in the clinics and in the operating theatre shaped how I practise today. I learned that bone and joint problems rarely end after one visit. Getting back to moving well takes time, a clear plan, and someone who stays with you along the way.
Why bones and joints?
Because treating bones, joints and muscles is really about helping people move again, back to the everyday life they're capable of. My years in orthopaedics also taught me this is rarely a one-visit fix. Many conditions do best with a proper assessment, the right medication, and physiotherapy and rehab, with regular follow-up to see how you're getting on.
What happens at my first visit?
We take our time. I'll listen to what's been troubling you and examine the area that hurts, and I'll also look at your overall health, because the rest of your body plays a part in how you heal. Then we talk through what's likely going on and the options that make sense for you, so you leave knowing your next step.
Will I need an injection?
Not usually as a first step. Injections aren't my starting point for pain relief. I prefer a proper, step-by-step treatment plan that helps you recover and understand what's actually happening in your body. If an injection makes sense later on, we'll talk it through together first.
Why open a clinic in the middle of COVID?
Simply because I wanted to care for patients in a clinic setting, where I could get to know them properly. Good care grows from a real relationship between patient and doctor, and from seeing people again, not just once. That's what we try to build at AZA: long-term care shaped around each person.
My child is very active in sport and keeps getting hurt. What should I do?
An active child is a wonderful thing. What helps most is the right guidance around them: a proper check after an injury, plus good coaching on how to train and recover. That way they can reach their potential while lowering the chance of getting hurt again.
Can I book to see Dr Ajmal specifically?
Yes, and I'm glad you asked. My clinic days are quite full, so please WhatsApp the clinic first. The team will arrange a time when I'm in, so you won't have a long wait and I can give you the time you need.
